This week Pampus and Zown formalised their collaboration agreement to support their energy sustainability and self-reliance ambitions. Both parties attach great importance to the continued realization, operation and sustainable energy supply on the island Pampus. The goal is a 100% sustainable opperation in 2022.
The island is located in the IJmeer, amenities such as sewerage, water and electricity are operational. The energy system on the island supports not only the fort and restaurant facilities, which opperate from April to November, but also the Xperience program. Thousands of visitors are taken through an audio-visual journey of the history of Pampus, dating back to the VOC (Dutch East India Company) era when ships from the East heading to Amsterdam for Pampus were laid.
In that history Pampus has always been independent and it will continue to do so sustainably. Zown, a subsidiary of network company Alliander, helps the island to be self-sufficient in its electricity and heat requirements. The energy demand is now supplied by solar panels, wind turbines, batteries and a generator. The myZown Operator of Zown software balances the energy. With the signing of a new partnership for Pampus secured a more sustainable security of supply.
